The founder of Aykido Mourihay Wesiba was born in Japan in the end XIX of century. From early age he studied bases of various systems and kinds of east battle arts, including battle arts, comprehended secrets fencing and has got glory of the greatest expert. He could win anyone, him surpass anybody could not.

   But it to him was a little. Mourihay Wesiba aspired to something new, more perfect. And eventually has found that that, searched. Having connected the certain elements of arts, known for him, with new philosophy, he has created essentially new battle art, worth independently in a line of other battle arts and under the right considered by most difficult and at the same time most simple of them. He has named him "Aykido", that is possible to translate as "a way to harmony of spirit". Mourihay Wesiba did not hasten to advertise the product and many years held it in a secret, having devoted in secret only few.

   At the end of 30 years in Japan the numerous schools of this battle art open, but while it remains elite - it is studied by the rich industrialists, maximum military grades, university. During the Second world war Wesiba with the devoted schoolboys leaves in mountains and continues to train and to improve the doctrine.

   The term "Aykido" for the first time was used in 1942. Despite of prohibition American authorities of any forms of practice of military arts, the Great teacher does not interrupt work, complete course renewed in 1948 after removal of an interdiction. And only in 1950 of XX century Mourihay Wesiba has announced about existence of this battle art.

   In 1956 the public indicative performances begin with his sanction. The numerous halls begin to work at schools, universities, at the enterprises. Aykido is gradually distributed for limits of Japan - in Europe and USA, where open Aikicenters.

   "The Great teacher" sincerely trusted in huge potential opportunities Aykido and considered, that it is intended not for group of the people, not for one people, and for all mankind. Wesiba for the activity has received a rank of the professor, and also imperial award — an award of Honour. Even after death (1969) he received the various awards for creation of system.
